Causes of Hair Loss

Some of the hair loss reasons are as below:

1. Family History or Heredity: Heredity plays a vital role in hair conditions. It affects not only the hair condition but also the age at which a person starts losing hair, the extent of hair loss and even the pattern of hair loss.

2. Hormonal Changes: Certain hormones considerably affect the hair condition. In the case of males, Dihydrotestosterone(DHT) is sensitive to hair follicles, and in the case of women, the changes in hormones during pregnancy and menopause can affect hair and cause hair fall.

3. Change Immune System: In this case, the body's immune system starts attacking hair follicles, considering them as antigens, which means a foreign substance in the body. This causes hair fall and then round patches on the scalp.

4. Infections: Dandruff is a widespread problem, but its reason can vary. Sometimes, it is caused by dry skin and sometimes by a fungal infection. The cause of fungal infection can be sweat or wet hair. Infections like ringworm invade the scalp skin and cause scaly patches and hair loss.

5. Skin disorders: Scarring is a skin disorder that destroys the hair follicles. We replace it with scar tissue, which causes permanent hair loss. This is called scarring or Cicatricial alopecia.
