Chronic Pain Management

Chronic Pain Management

Living with chronic pain is something that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It can disrupt your life and make it impossible for you to work, spend time with your family or even be able to take care of yourself and leave you dependent on others.

Pain management is a rapidly growing specialty and is a branch of medicine that applies science to the reduction of pain across a wide variety of conditions.

Here are some ways to manage pain:

Modern Medicine

From over-the-counter and prescription medicines to steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation and even facet joint injections, modern medicine has done its best to help people manage pain and to provide them relief.

Unfortunately, the drawback to most modern medicine is that it targets symptoms and not the “root” problem that is causing those symptoms, causing an infinite loop of additional treatments without solutions. For example, how familiar does this scenario sound: patient goes to doctor seeking a solution to her pain. Doctor prescribes a prescription painkiller and an antianxiety medication, which combine to cause side effects. Doctor then prescribes another medication to ease the side effects. This cycle can continue until a patient is on 8-10 medications.

Total Holistic Center, on the other hand, uses the approach known as IRT, or Integrated Regenerative Therapy, to individually research each client, identify the root cause of problems such as chronic pain, then address those problems for good.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has become a widely accepted form of pain relief in the West.

Acupuncture is common in Chinese medicine and involves inserting thin tiny needles into certain parts of the body to stimulate nerves and muscles in a way that helps to promote healing and pain relief.  Many studies have confirmed acupuncture’s effectiveness in treating pain, and the World Health Organization includes pain on its list of conditions for which acupuncture is beneficial. Therapeutic Massage

Massage involves the manipulation of the body’s soft tissues and can influence the muscles, lymphatic systems, and nervous systems. Massage can also enhance blood flow and reduce stress and relieve tension in the body. Massages can not only relieve physical pain but can relieve the emotional stress that comes with chronic pain as well.

Natural Herbs and Supplements

There are several herbs and supplements that can treat inflammation and other conditions related to it which could be causing pain. Willow Bark, Turmeric, and Cloves are just a few that can be used to provide pain relief. Total Holistic Center specializes in suggesting supplement regimens that are uniquely tailored to its clients.

Diet & Exercise

We all know that what we eat affects us physically, and can also affect how we feel mentally and emotionally. Some people believe that consuming more plant-based foods and changing our fat intake can ease pain by limiting inflammation. Exercise is also thought to be able to help with the reduction of chronic pain. Some good examples of exercises for those with chronic pain include Tai Chi, Swimming, and Pilates.

Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine covers a variety of non-invasive and non-surgical treatment methods that focus on rebuilding and repairing cells and tissues using substances that naturally occur in your body. It is based on the idea that the human body has the ability to produce new, healthy cells to replace damaged or diseased ones and this can help to alleviate chronic pain and help you get your life back. Learn more about our non-surgical regenerative therapy here.

Ultimately, we want all our clients to find long-term pain relief and have to take into account not just their physical needs, but their emotional, mental, and spiritual ones as well.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution to pain management, so let us and the team at Total Holistic Center work with you to find out the best approach. Our reviews speak for themselves.
